Rockefeller University reopens

At the beginning of November the new Rockefeller University lab building opens in Manhatten, New York City. The exclusive “bridging building”, connecting the two buildings Theobald Smith Hall and Flexner Hall, provides space which is designed for interaction and collaboration. The sophisticated stairwell panelling consists of 2,975 solid wood slats and was manufactured by Hoffmann Interior. Project description Rockefeller University

The YouTube stream A tour of the Collaborative Research Center will give you a glimpse of the fascinating project. Paul Nurse, university’s president, will guide you through the tour and explains “Here in Manhattan and we have a lot of vertical buildings, which means there is a lot isolation between laboratories. With this project we’ve had the opportunity to join Smith and Flexner. This will give us a much bigger footplate, where we can have as many as eight laboratories on each floor.”
