Special features The Hearst Tower was erected in “Green Building“ mode and is among New York’s most environment-friendly building complexes. This brief was, of course, also applied to the interior design. In concrete terms this meant: use of renewable resources (FSC Standard, Stropoli) as well as eco-friendly technologies. Thanks to the extraordinary interior architecture wall and ceiling units virtually “nestle” into the room. The special challenge was to achieve a perfect transition from the walls to the ceiling system. Since the auditorium extends into the room from the rostrum in a funnel shape the individual wood louvers were customised to the millimetre and inserted to give a perfectly consistent look. Spotlight on Embedded light ducts present the speaker in the proper light and the doors are sunk into the wall units almost invisibly. |
