6 months | About the project Due to its proximity to Frankfurt Airport this architectural gem is completely tailored to the ”Aviation and Aerospace” theme. The Portuguese design team placed great emphasis on high-precision detail so that visitors to the shopping centre can now recover from long shopping trips in original Lufthansa aircraft seats located in mock fuselages. The painted steel frame structure for the fuselages come care of our in-house metal manufacturer MELA.To make sure visitors are always aware of the time at the Food Court a 215 kg Engine Clock was installed modelled after a 12-cylinder star piston engine. Also to be found on the Food Court level: seating islands in the shape of luggage belts for a genuine airport feel and large-format ceiling structures with propellers paying tribute to aviation pioneers.
To get an idea of this exciting project on site we took off to Weiterstadt for our annual works outing in November 2009.
